This was fantastic. All the views are a must see. Would highly recommend this tour. Learned a lot and the driver was extremely friendly and informative.
Awesome tour! Must do when you’re in Auckland.
This is a great experience because of Mike who created this unique tour. He's extremely knowledgeable about the geological history of Auckland and providing some fascinating insights and visiting numerous exciting viewpoints. The afternoon portion of the tour was equally interesting with a walk through the gun emplacements at North Head and walk along the wall separating a lake from the ocean and showing how the lake water is filtered through the lava field to reach the ocean. There is a fair amount of walking involved. On the negative side, seating in the 11 person van was tight.with the van full.
Such an awesome tour. There is the just morning and just afternoon option but we decided to do the full day one. And it was worth it. Very informative and interesting. It was a great perspective of the city as well and we were able to see so much of it. Mike was very knowledgeable and told us very interesting things about the area and the volcanoes history. We never would have had this experience on our own. In the afternoon we got to see and walk along old lava flows that are now partially covered by the sea, but during low tide you can see and walk all over it. Breathtaking! Also where we went there were never a lot of people to get in our way of the views and scenery. Definitely a tour worth doing.
