Om te beginnen slaat u de wachtrij over bij de Galleria dell'Accademia om Michelangelo's David te zien, evenals zijn gedeeltelijk voltooide slaven; dit biedt inzicht in de wijze waarop hij grillig gevormde rotsen wist om te vormen tot de prachtige, levensechte figuren van zijn sculpturen. U luistert naar de verhalen over Leonardo Da Vinci en de machtige familie De' Medici, waarvan het mecenaat Florence tot een van de broedplaatsen van de Renaissance-kunst maakte.

Vervolgens brengt u een bezoek aan de Duomo om het geschilderde interieur van Brunelleschi's beroemde koepel te bewonderen en het verhaal te horen van het ontwerp en de bouw. Bij het Baptisterium kunt u de prachtige gouden Poorten van het Paradijs bewonderen en alle bijzonderheden horen over de moordende concurrentie erachter.

Na de Duomo wandelen we door de straten van Florence om meer bezienswaardigheden te bekijken, waaronder het Palazzo Vecchio, de standbeelden van de Orsanmichele-kerk, de Pizza della Repubblica en Piazza della Signoria, het Porcellino-varken (een aai over zijn neus brengt geluk!) en uiteraard de meest pittoreske brug van Italië, de Ponte Vecchio.

Alle bezienswaardigheden komen tot leven door de verhalen van uw Engelssprekende gids. In een intieme groep van 15 personen of minder hebt u meer dan voldoende tijd om vragen te stellen en de ongelooflijke geschiedenis van deze stad helemaal te leren kennen.

De kathedraal van Florence is tijdens speciale vieringen/feesten gesloten, met inbegrip van de ceremoniën tijdens Pasen. Mocht dit tijdens uw bezoek voorkomen, dan nemen we een alternatieve route om de kathedraal van buitenaf te bekijken en bezoeken we extra hoogtepunten in het stadscentrum
Helaas is deze tour niet geschikt voor gasten met beperkte mobiliteit, rolstoel of kinder-/wandelwagen
Vergeet niet dat de Duomo (de kathedraal) een heilige plaats is, waar gepaste kleding wordt verwacht. Zowel mannen als vrouwen worden verzocht kleding te dragen die ten minste de schouders en knieën bedekt. Als u de toegang wordt geweigerd vanwege ongepaste kleding, kan Walks of Italy hiervoor niet verantwoordelijk worden gehouden.
Comfortabele wandelschoenen worden aanbevolen
In sommige gevallen is het niet mogelijk om de Duomo in te gaan tijdens uw tour met gids vanwege lange rijen bij de veiligheidscontrole. In dat geval houdt uw gids buiten een praatje over de Duomo en kunt u de kathedraal eventueel in uw vrije tijd bezoeken.

Our guide (Laura) was superb! Her deep knowledge of Florence, it's art, it's culture and architecture was truly amazing! ! She had a fun nature about her and we truly enjoyed the time we spent with her even though the day was raining - it was fun for all. Highly recommended.

Amazing! Our guide Charles was very knowledgeable and informative! He brought David to life and shared interesting tidbits of Michaelangelo and Florence! It was very hot (100 degrees) and he looked for shade to view the sites as we walked around. Great way to get acquanted with Florence. Thanks Charles!

This is an awesome tour to get to see the highlights of Florence if you only have limited time. The statue of David was AMAZING, walking the streets and understanding the history was very intriguing, and inside the Duomo is very beautiful.

Tour of LAccademia with focus on David and works by Michelangelo was amazing. Tour guide was brilliant on David and the politics of sculpture. Lot of rest of the tour was lost due to excessive detail. Would prefer focus on sculptures, not so much Duomo which I got on other tours. Brilliant tour for enlightened thinkers. I should have brought a notebook with me as I loved contextualization of Ghiberti, Brunelleschi and in particular Michelangelo. I would take this tour again! Maybe in less heat!

Tour guide was very informative, and showed us a lot in the museum, church, and surrounding area. Skip the line is great, especially on hot day. Tours like this are really useful especially for first time visitors like us.

Eritza was our guide and she brought humor and relateability to our tour. It is a great overview of Florence so you can figure out where you want to explore on your own. The tour is totally worth it to skip the line at the Academia to see the Statue of David, and maximize your time, plus you learn things about the statue you wouldnt know seeing it on your own. I highly recommend it, plus our guide gave us a terrific restaurant recommendation on the south side of the Ponte Vecchio Bridge to see that section of Florence, and have a great meal with the locals!
