Het Centre Pompidou werd in 1977 geopend en vernoemd naar de President van Frankrijk Georges Pompidou en is een van Europa's grootste musea voor hedendaagse en moderne kunst. De museumcollectie bevat meer dan 100.000 kunstwerken van meer dan 6500 kunstenaars. Het bevat ook een enorme bibliotheek en onderzoekscentrum, en toont hedendaagse creaties, zoals beeldende kunst, boeken, muziek en film. Het Centre Pompidou ligt naast de rivier de Seine in Beaubourg, het 4e arrondissement, dicht bij andere belangrijke bezienswaardigheden, zoals de Notre-Dame, het stadhuis en het Place des Vosges. Op het grote plein en in de voetgangersstraten buiten het museum kunt u vaak een levendig straatbeeld vinden met een verscheidenheid aan muzikanten, jongleurs en andere straatartiesten, samen met grote openbare kunstwerken en beeldhouwkunst.

We took escalators to top floor and ate at restaurant. Food was good and our server Jazmina was excellent. Our meal was more enjoyable by having such a hard working and delightful young lady attending our table. We then visited the museum on fifth and fourth floors. Nice selection of modern art. I was hoping for more but good to admire.

Absolutely terrible - I'm so sorry to say. I love modern art, I admire and understand the architecture so was really excited to visit. We couldn't actually find any exhibits. Everyone was heading to top floor so went there because we couldn't see any other section that looked open and saw a really ordinary exhibition of optical illusions that were very unspecial. My husband suddenly said "get me out of here" and we did, it was so dire. On the way out I tried to go via something, anything, interesting but there was nothing to see. We did see the inside of two lifts - one was broken - and the escalators several times. Oh and we also saw the section aimed at children, which was closed. Asda is more interesting.

The Pomidou Centre is worth a visit. There were problems with the tickets though as nombar code could be printed and the staff were extremely unhelpful and were quite dismissive that we had bocked the tickets through a 3rd party. They were clearly the operator/supplier and it took a lot of persistence to get them to let us in.

If you like modern art,it might be worth it. The best I can say is that the views from the top floor were great. It only took us 30 min to figure out it was a waste of our time.

Was disappointed with this attraction. It was less than I expected. The only part that I enjoyed was riding the escalators to the top floor. The The Priority Access feature was not necessary the day and time that I went.
