U ontmoet uw lokale gids 's avonds bij de uitgang van het centraal station van Yurakucho voor het begin van uw tour door de bruisende nachtelijke eetscene van Tokio. U loopt van de ene plek naar de andere plek en gaat soms ook met het openbaar vervoer. Alle proeverijen en een drankje (bier of sake) zijn inbegrepen, dus geniet!
U voelt zich net als de lokale bewoners als u door de stad wandelt en een bezoek brengt aan diverse populaire eetgelegenheden, te beginnen in Yakitori Alley in de buurt van Yurakucho. In deze buurt zitten veel informele restaurantjes in bar-stijl waar hapjes worden geserveerd, zoals yakitori (gegrilde kipspiesjes). Dip dit happyhour-hapje in de sauzen van het huis en spoel de snacks weg met sake of bier.
Vervolgens gaat u naar Tsukishima voor een bezoek aan Monja Street voor monjayaki, een gebakken traktatie die vergelijkbaar is met een okonomiyaki-pannenkoek uit Osaka. Klets met de kok terwijl uw hapjes sissen op de grill en gebruik vervolgens een kleine metalen spatel om het in kleine stukjes te snijden en het rechtstreeks met stokjes vanaf het rooster te prikken.
We lopen snel door Ginza, hier zijn geweldige snoepwinkels waar u het uitgebreide aanbod traditioneel Japans snoepgoed kunt zien. En uiteraard kunt u ook iets uitkiezen om te proberen! Dit snoep wordt normaal gesproken gemaakt van rijst en rode bonen maar verandert in samenstelling op basis van de beschikbare ingrediënten. Zelfs de vorm is geïnspireerd op wat er in dat seizoen in de natuur te zien is.
Uw tour eindigt in een lokale pub voor nog meer drankjes (op eigen kosten). U kunt hier blijven of samen met uw gids terugkeren naar het startpunt. Uw gids kan ook andere hippe achterafbarretjes of levendige karaokeclubs aanbevelen om de gezelligheid voort te zetten.

Kirihara was amazing. He was very engaging, had a great sense of humor, and made the entire experience fun. Despite my poor sense of directions, I was able to find the group at the designated meeting point in the Ginza district . It was a party of 12, and I enjoyed my conversations with everyone I spoke to. From the meeting point, Kirihara took us to a restaurant where we were provided drinks and snacks. I was the only vegetarian, which I did specify when I booked the trip, and that entire evening, Kirihara ensured that I got vegetarian options. After that, he took us to a bakery, and we each received a mochi dessert. (I ate it a few days later, and it was still delicious.) We then went to another restaurant, where we had two different entrees. One drink was included with the meal, but everyone had the option of ordering more drinks at his or her own cost. The establishment was the kind where there was a hot griddle at each table, and Kirihara actually prepared the Japanese pancakes and "pizzas" for us. He has mad skills. At the end of the tour, he ensured that we knew our way back to our hotels via subway, and then emailed us an extensive list of descriptions and links of his recommendations on what to see and eat in Tokyo. I give Kirihara and the night tour an A+++.

Unfortunately this tour really didn't explore much in the Japanese styles of food. There were 3 stops. A Yakitori restaurant which was ok but nothing special, a sweet shop where we all got a single sweet and another place which I can't recall the name off. Unfortunately this last place allowed smoking inside, and on top of the fairly ordinary food that was served there it actually was fairly unpleasant and I couldn't wait to get out. So the tour didn't really provide a lot of insight, nor was the product we ate very good. All in all I found this poor value for money.

I love Japanese food, so anything that involves around it is a winner. The tour was great but it felt a little short. Apart from that I had an awesome time.

It was excellent, even despite the rain. Eriko was an excellent guide and the places she took us were great. two places of salty dishes and two sweets. It was a great experience.

Kimmi was a fabulous tour guide. We learnt a lot about Japanese culture and food. There was plenty of food to eat and the variety was excellent. Thanks Kimmi!

A very enjoyable experience. The food was very good at all the locations and the guide took a good amount of time to explain the surroundings and to talk about the food that we were eating. The only thing that looked like spoiling the night was a communication breakdown somewhere with booking reference details where we werent on the guides list, it was quickly sorted out.
